75-25

As we came into our last week, we went to Mobius, Freeman, Shadle, Mead.. then back to Seattle. It was really hard to leave Spokane. We had such a great time there~ ok~ probably a little biased on the "great time" opinion. However, every time I asked the students how things were, they said "great." So I'm really just relaying the message~~ From shopping to just spending time at home, I hope the students got to see "life in America" as it can and will be for them later... (we'll leave that for discussion later :)

So let's talk about Freeman, Shadle and Mead. Being able to spend some time at some schools around here was exciting! At Freeman, we shared some good question and answer time in Caleb and Nathan's class! The students (ours and theirs) loved answering and asking questions! They all had such a great time! Shadle, an all new school (completely remodeled), we toured lots of the classes... and ended with a super fun class in the Leadership Class... played some 'communication' games, talked, and generally had a great time :)
Then Mead. Wow. Thank you Jenny Cochran!!!! We made copper pendants. The project was so fun!! I'm pretty sure it made the week!

Even though we had to leave Spokane a day early, the weather broke on Thursday and gave us a perfect day to travel. Then we had some good time to SHOP at the Tulalip Outlets. If you have the chance to go there... do it. We all found some great deals to take home~~ and even went 3 times in 24 hours to get all the shopping we could!

There are no words to express the joy and happiness in my heart to have spent this time in America with these students.

My final story: Tonight, as Poul and I are sitting in the Seatac Inn on our last night, watching Avatar, Poul asked me one of his "choice" questions. Poul has been asking me, and mom and dad, these "favorite" questions: "Do you like.. or .."

Today's question was this:
"Teacher! We go back to Korea tomorrow. Are you happy or sad?"
   I said, "Umm... both."
   Poul, "50% happy. 50% sad?"
   Me, "Yes."
   Poul, "I am 75%, 25%."
   Me, "Oh yeah? Why?"

Poul, "75% happy. Because America is so fun!"

This is such a happy moment for Teacher.
I really hope these students had a good time here.
I really hope we can come again.
I REALLY hope that more students can be happy here~~

Mobius

Hello~~
On Monday, we had a great experience at Mobius Science Center... building ROCKETS!
This Science Center was amazing! First, we started off with a class about rockets and the physics behind them. The teacher actually did a great job explaining everything. The students seemed to follow right along!
We built the rockets. Then fired them off!
Ok, so the rockets were newspaper rolled up, taped, card-board wings... and the firepower was a plastic bottle taped to tubing. Jump on the bottle. Rocket flies.
The target?? .... Teacher. :)

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day <3

We had a pretty crafty day at the Stoehr household today!
We did a great English class in the morning - and I might add, after another great breakfast.

Then we started in on the Valentine's crafts.
Oh MY!!
Everyone took the crafts to heart! They loved it! We just gave them a book of colored paper, stickers, glitter and letters... and they made the cutest cards ever!

Then Wendy took them to cookie cooking class in the kitchen! They made sugar cookies and frosted them~~ We had gingerbread men, stars, smiles, hearts... everything to make the heart warm
(and enough sugar to stop your brain).
Then the students delivered some of the cookies to the neighbors~~

Such a perfect day- topped off by a great game of Train Domino's
(quickly becoming a nightly thing).
