It all started at the Hotel. We had an interesting class time. I'm learning as much as the students, I think. It's so interesting coming from teaching at home: comfortable. familiar. routine. And then you try to do those same actions in an uncomfortable. unfamiliar. not-so-routine place. All your organization comes undone. At least for me. Today.
I have to start this blog out honestly today. I learned a lot today about breaking out of my comfort zone. It seems like a cliche lesson. But sometimes I just need to resort back to good solid lessons... and continue to learn. If it wasn't for that confusion this morning, then the next thing to happen... wouldn't have.
We decided in our class that we wanted to have Wendy's for lunch. Chicken was the choice for the day. However, Seattle had a parade for the Seahawks (I guess they won a big game or something??). So the roads were blocked and we needed to get to Renton/Everette quick- as to avoid the traffic and parade. We ended up finding a KFC (not the decided restaurant, but chicken none the less). We decided what to order and I went to the counter to order our lunch. A nice man came up to me as I was waiting and asked about out group. I told him we were from South Korea and we are studying English~~ and we had the opportunity to come to Washington. He thought that was pretty cool... I ordered and as I went to pay, the man swiped his card instead. ... I was so utterly shocked at this act of random kindness it almost brought me to tears (even now, just thinking about it...)
He turned to me with the kindest smile... as I was asking "why? why? what just happened??" He said, "just because. Bye!"
If there was something I could have said to him... I would have. But honestly, I was at a loss for words.
We enjoyed our wonderfully blesses lunch on the road... on our way to Everette, the Future of Flight Boeing Airplane Factory Tour.
At the factory, we had an amazing time touring the plant. WOW. Airplanes are so HUGE! Especially the new 787-8. An incredible piece of machinery.
We had a chance to talk with the guide afterwords and she has taught Japanese students before and would love to continue teaching young students later~~ she was such a great guide.
After the tour, we came back down to my good friend, Robert's house!! What a blessing it's been to be here too! The students absolutely love Rob's kids!! Josiah and Malachi are sooooo cute!!! The love that Josiah has for his little brother is so precious~~
It's been so good to spend time with this brother!! Robert has helped me out in so many ways~~ I just want him to know that it's been a HUGE blessing to stay here tonight. We had a chance to catch up and for us to share our culture with his family.
SuHyeon gave the first presentation of the trip tonight too! It was fantastic!! She taught Robert and his family how to play Yunnori. (we can show you later~~)
All in all, it was a blessed day!!! Thank for reading... and we'll see you next time. Bye!
